God and Its formats

March 20, 2011

To know that the Gods as idols and human imagination projected as idols can be misleading. How can we be sure that the image that we see of Lord Krishna or Shiva or any other God, today, is the exact way They look ? If tradition of the Lords is to be believed who have been worshiped since eternity then there is marked difference between how Lord Shiva would have looked in the yore and how He ‘looks’ today. So if Lord Shiva had to manifest to someone, I am betting He will manifest in the way His image is seen these days, or the way He ‘looks’ these days. Which then forces me to wonder, is it our mind that is making these things up for us ?

The Muslims were clever, they never kept any photos or idols. So, no one manifesting there huh.

There are many schools of thought which say if you dedicatedly call on Him for 48 hours or so, rest assured He will manifest. I am not a doctor nor a big deal into neurotic disorders, but I am guessing, since the manifestation is of the current image of the Lord that we have made, it is our mind which is making us believe that He is here. I mean, look at it from the minds point of view. You have tortured that organ for so long. It wants some relief, so it will give you what you want. Its like mountain expeditions where the lack of Oxygen produces hallucinations. You want to see Clint Eastwood, you will see him.

Also, if the manifestation formula is to be believed, i wonder what a Buddhist sees. Nothingness ? Well, then that nothingness is manifesting everyday ! Lucky you Buddhists.

Also, if there actually is a conglomerate of the Lords, who ever decided to make the universe ? Did They divide the work ? Did They even exist before the universe was ? I am sure there was some religion and God even before Jesus Christ paid a visit. Still the man was believing in ‘something’.

The other day I was at a Christian faith healers place listening to a sermon and he was correctly pointing out a few fallacies. He was also of the opinion that one should not become an idolater and keep praying to the cross all the time. Well, after some time, it was prayer time. Where people got down on their knees and were being led by this brother.
I also went down on my knees and started praying with others, a minute into the prayer and I was shocked to hear the prayer words that were being said. I am a sinner and do not deserve mercy but my Great Lord Jesus is so great that He loves me. Lord forgive me.. I am a sinner… sinner sinner ! Damn. I could not take that anymore. I am not a sinner. I did nothing wrong! For a moment I opened my eyes and looked around and I saw people weeping. Inconsolably. I thought man, most of them look like normal everyday people, they probably have never even conned the government and people around. A few lies may have been said but they have all been due to the consequence driven fears that the society has fed us. But I only wondered if all people around me were really such murderers or killers or mother/wife beaters or evil doers that they felt so repentful about. After another minute or so, I felt like a sinner myself. For not crying with the others. ‘God save me from evil’ they said. I wondered, if evil is a force outside of God. What can one be saved from really, when everything is Him ! I wonder what mental phenonmenon can this be termed as.

To pray and to get closer to divinity is always associated with pain and suffering. Of course, praying itself really means that you have separated yourself from God and that you accept and acknowledge that there is a God who will show some mercy if you beg and plead.
If we all have ultimately made God in our images, I would really like to have a motherly image of my God. With whom I can be at peace with and who will just want me to be close and thing would be smoother.

USPs of Religion

January 18, 2011

Comparative study of many paths will lead us to believe a few common USPs that every school of thought subscribes to and makes all it students subscribe to the same.

I will try to write in a few words what otherwise should be a size of the dictionary.

To be happy is the ultimate aim, for any human being. There is no one way that will take a man to a higher frequency of vibration that he is already vibrating at. Assuming that the highest frequency of vibration will be the ultimate state of oneness with the universe. Where the subject and object have all melted. Where the knower, the knowing and the known are One.

Of a lot of study I have done on various paths that disparate schools of thought offer, I can now, easily point out that almost all of them are just advertising themselves as ‘The path’.I am extremely pained when I see some common USPs, which I will list out later here, which are common across all schools. It is appalling to know how most of them have forgotten themselves and thus made others forget, that theirs is just a device for a man to get on to a path. Condemning other paths and even comparison may not be the right thing to do. At this point it is also extremely important for the student to know that without trying out a couple of paths, to know which is the right one or rather the suited one is a difficult choice to make.

Here is what you will hear from almost every school of philosophy you will attend. With my interlocutory injunctions.

You are a chosen one to be on this path. You have practised this in some previous life time and thus are drawn to this path.

— Yeah, if it didnt help me then,

I dont know if it will help me now. It is very fortunate of you to have chosen to walk this path, since one out of thousand think about it, one out of those thousand who think, will know about it. One amongst those thousand who know about it will actually walk it. Like you are.

— Typical feel good words given to make the mind at ease.

Dont divulge whatever is being taught to you to other people.

— why ? Is what you teach illegal ? If someone will listen to it, if
it is in sync with his thought process, will only bring more people to this path.

Everyone, almost, will try to show you down and show you another path, refuse to even listen.
— why? since we have brainwashed you and we want your money son.

Just put your faith in us and we will see to it that your process of attaining nirvana is smoothed.

— if someone could do that externally, wow.

Our guru has taken the karma of so many of his disciples and thence so many of his disciples are doing well.

— you can be sure, he aint taking none of yours !

Practising what we preach,is going to help you, your neighbors, your family and even your ancestors who are dead already.

— talk about globalisation. Relax. That aint happening.

If a person is intelligent enough, the question gets pushed one ladder up. The answer when the question cannot really be answered, is thrown behind the abstraction of a previous incarnation or karma.

The stellar award goes to the statement where things are pushed into some previous incarnation.
For ex., just out of co-incidence, if one is practising vipassana, it said approximately after 7 births of walking the path, will one become a Buddha, but, who knows which birth this is ?

It wont be out of point to understand the power of our own minds. The mind will give you what you want! Its something like its own disaster recovery system. If you are in an illusory world of feeling that being in the company of a sage you will feel lightened, your mind will make sure you get that experience, since the fella is so tired of you making yourself believe that such a phenomenon is possible.

There really is no help available from outside. We can read books and read a few stories and learn a few tricks to fool the mind. Till the time we have learned to go within and surrender to our Selves, and take shelter within, there is nothing that is going to help. Each of us are responsible for our individual beings.

Why should I believe in God ?

May 19, 2008

All if this is really not out of frustration, but with deligient
thinking and tons of reasoning.
Of late I have really started to ponder if there was any God
actually.

Including the millions of Gods that an Indian traditionally had,
added along with the increased number of Them, the intruders added
(forced?) onto the masses.

May be I have been thinkinh way too much about this because I really
do not see any thing happening or moving BECAUSE of God. I think
after applying certain amount of limited logic and reasoning that can
come outta my head. There are only 2 reasons why a person would
believe(or forced to) in God. One Fear of death, and being punished
for sins, Two : when logic ceases to exist ( which really happens
when we think as to : Where did this Universe come from ? who could
have designed this human body, The perfect sexual reproductive
system , digestive system…. (Although even this is not with
perfection, if we assume that God is supposed to be perfect)).
An average person when going through a low phase in life, would
generally tend to turn towards the divine beings for some help, as if
some miracle would happen. But, nothing really happens, in reality.
We have been crying for ages, thousands of years, yet nothing has
improved the fate of an average person. ( including the Indians in
the Noo Yawrk)

taking the logic a little further.
There would be two schools of thought generally on this, 1) that God
sent you to this world to perfect yourself and win over situations
and better ourself and equip your soul with various experiences.

my question: if there was any God, wherever in the skies, then why
would he put me in trouble. At the expense of my PRESENT being pissed
at. and then they say: God really wouldnt put you in shit from which
you yourself cannot come out. If I was actually to be the child of
God then, being almighty, being all powerfull and having magical
capabilities, why will he put me in shit at all ?(that too when God
already knows that I am gonna make it out of it). and think of it, If
I am actually gonna come out of this on myself, then Why pray ??

then the 2nd most famous Myth about life is 2) That, whatever you are
facing as of now is the result of your past deeds (including your
previous birth, yes, Indians knew the reincarnation theory ages ago
just that the new world is starting to accept it after some time).

I mean, this is crazy philosophy being breathed into humanity. If I
had to bear the expenses of my past deeds (which means that a person
is passing thru a low phase in life), then where exactly would God
come in to the picture and help me, becasue the cause and affect has
been already determined!!!
Do good. bcos God is watching an he will fry u in oil for bad
deeds. ??

there is no substantial evidence that God must have put, in the head
of great inventors that things have to be invented so that a man
could have a comfortable life. All of the greatest and the most
creative inventions have been done out of the sheer necessity felt
for them including the invention of Language!

“I do not believe in a God which can see a widow weep and a child cry
with hunger – Swami Vivekanada. “
No one really sees any God coming down and helping His children who
have been whipped with the lashes of poverty, for people for whom
having one Square meal is a celebration, being alive and being able
to breathe is a moment that people cherish.People still suffering
with Physical ailments.the best way to know pain, is to go through
it, i suppose/
Suffering.hunger/poverty have become the order of every breath for
an avergae Indian( there are a few who will join the BPO and simulate
themselves into being able yap like the “Dudes”) and feel elevated
and pass nasty looks, while travelling in the company cars, to people
standing in the hordes waiting for the public transport.
… there is s much more to it.

I would love to know what the people who share a similar passion
feel/think about such an issue.
or is it that we ( as in the general humanity) have accepted
ourselves to be loosers in some corner of the heart of hearts within
us?
